Revenge is Back…for More Revenge?

Revenge New Season

Yes.  The name of the show is “.”  So that in itself implies a certain focus, a focus which has carried the show through three seasons so far.  But those seasons have had a mixed result for me.   From a story arc perspective, I’m looking to see characters grow and change.

When the Season 4 premiere started, it almost seemed as though Emily had finally grown past her need for retribution.  Of course, the fact that she bought Grayson Manor was a big red flag.  The phone call with Victoria? Another huge red flag.  And the seemingly innocuous run-in where she “accidentally” couldn’t handle her new car and backed into someone else…Well, anyone who has watched even one episode of this show knows that Emily does nothing on accident.  Every breath is planned and plotted to achieve maximum damage.

I did appreciate that Emily had some measure of awareness about her addiction to retribution.  They say admitting it is the first step. Okay. I’ll bite.  As long as it’s REALLY the first step…not the only one.  With Emily’s father back in the Hamptons, I can’t wait to see what his purpose is —his goals, his direction. Does he know that Emily is really Amanda?

I wasn’t thrilled to see Victoria returning as the one seeking revenge.  I think her escape from the psych ward was a little too easy and truth be told, a little too quick.  Sure, she’s been in there for months, but we’ve only had the pleasure of seeing Victoria locked up for one episode —less than one episode!

I love seeing that Jack is a cop.  I think that’s a great shift of direction for him.

Of course, and there’s the new cop in town (played by the handsome ) and he’s in prime position to be a new love interest for Emily?  (See handsome guy above with Jack.)   I’ll be interested in seeing tonight’s episode and where it goes.  But I’m expecting something more than Victoria and Emily playing revenge games.  What about you?

Hi Brooke— It’s definitely worth watching, but I’d definitely start at season 1. A TON of stuff happens each season, like any good soapy prime time show. lol

I *LOVE* Revenge!

Definitely sit down with a sharpie, Brooke, and watch from the first season if you can. The first season finale, complete with “Seven Devils” playing was amazing tv!

Now, Jeannie – I’ve got an admission – I *HATED* losing Aiden last year, especially the way we did. The Graysons have always had questionable morals at best but in last year’s season finale, Victoria became EVIL PERSONIFIED. This week was heartbreaking – watching Amanda open up to Charlotte only to see Charlotte prove what a mini-me of her mom she really is. WOW. Did that actress not look like a mini-Madeline Stowe during her final scenes with Amanda this week? WOW!

I’m hating Victoria more than ever now that she’s turning David against “Emily” – darn you, Victoria Grayson! Seriously, the tables have turned this year and Emily is the hunted with her ranks dwindling. Aiden was the one who was cautious and predicted tragedy (though, sadly, not his own). Emily has her work cut out for her this year – Victoria isn’t playing fair. Hasn’t since she placed Aiden on Em’s sofa last year.

Revenge is Southampton Soapy-ness at its best. And this comes from someone who grew up there and knows that the show takes some creative license – like the fact that Montauk and Southampton aren’t some quick jaunt down the beach from each other. Or the fact that the Southampton Town Hall used in the show was actually turned into a Sacks Fifth Avenue – I kid you not (it has since closed). I still love my Revenge!

Check out the former Southampton Town Hall:

I was a pre-screener for this before it started and thought it was good but sadly, I never watched it. Now I need to watch the first series on hulu so I can catch up to the new season!

A pre-screener? What does that entail? Would love to know more. 🙂

Never watched this show, but I love that cover with the thorny dresses.
