Your Turn To Be Interviewed…

by Jeannie Ruesch

Today is a quick post…I’m already a little more than late with it, but with a sick child at home, it’s tough to get in gear.  So today, I’m going to “interview” you on some fun stuff…

What’s your favorite TV show to watch for “escapism”?  The guilty pleasure? What about the show that inspires you in your writing?

What’s your favorite movie? Why?   Does it inspire your writing at all?

Thanks for visiting and I look forward to your answers!

Anyone who saw my earlier post this month knows my favorite TV show is Castle. (Actually, it’s tied with Bones.)

Guilty pleasure? Marshmallows. Candy Corn. Take 5’s. Basically, anything sweet.

Show that inspires me for writing: That’d be Castle again, the cockiness of Richard Castle, Beckett’s smart, snappy comebacks, the flirting…and then there’s Bones…for many of the same reasons, though I LOVE Seely Booth’s Alpaha traditional romantic side and how much he loves Bones, and deals with her blunt, literal character.

Favorite movie: The Cutting Edge. Close runner-ups: Ever After, Music and Lyrics, While You Were Sleeping.

Why? The romance of them all. I can watch each of them several times a year and still get a goofy smile at the end. And the song Hugh Grant sings in Music & Lyrics gets me misty-eyed every time.

All good romance inspires me to write better each time. (I hope!) Maybe the better way to say it is that I STRIVE to write better with each book. *grin*

Jeannie, we had a couple sick in our house last week, so I hope your house is very healthy very soon!

My escapist TV? Bones.

Guilty pleasure? Cheese, says the Woman with High Cholesterol. Good cheese. Excellent cheese. Stilton. Gorgonzola. Brie. Farmhouse Cheddar from England. (That’s only one guilty pleasure, right? As they’re all cheese?)

Or did you mean a TV guilty pleasure? Maybe “So You Think You Can Dance.”

Neither of those shows particularly inspires me in my writing, though I do notice character and plot development in Bones.

My favourite movie? Well, I feel compelled to watch You’ve Got Mail every time it comes on tv, in spite of the fact that I own a copy and could watch it whenever I wanted. Of course, that’s true of Sleepless in Seattle, too — and Miss Congeniality (I and II). Oh, and Two Weeks’ Notice. It seems that if it’s a fluffy little romantic comedy, it’s my favourite movie du jour.

I haven’t written anything like any of these movies yet. If they inspire me, they do so in the sense that they make me feel good, which makes me feel like writing.

Sick child? Best to both of you.

What’s your favorite TV show to watch for “escapism”? Castle and Bones are pretty much tied. Though Leverage is right up there and the new White Collar, if it holds up to the pilot, could be good.

The guilty pleasure? TV-wise or food? Food it’s Starbucks Grande Mocha Frappicinos. TV…Dancing wih the Stars.

What about the show that inspires you in your writing? I’m not sure there is a show that inspires me in my writing. I do enjoy shows with snappy dialogue.

What’s your favorite movie? Last of the Mohicans. Why? Daniel Day Lewis, the scenery and that soundtrack! Does it inspire your writing at all? I wrote my book FAERIE FIRE to that soundtrack. And the movie makes an appearance in another novella as the favorite of my heroine.

I’ve had the blasted flu, too. I’m sorry your little one has it. So much worse when your child is ill and you can’t make it better. Hang in there.
