About The Book
What I love about the Cover
There were so many elements to this cover that I fell in love with the minute I saw it.
There’s a reverence, a compassion, a sadnessβand it just evokes emotion. The colors are beautifully woven. The expression on the woman’s faceβher closed eyes, her bowed headβwhen you combine this imagery with the title of the book, you feel like you should be showing respect, showing reverence to somethingβor at least I did.
This cover has incredible texture and depth. And the butterflyβI love that detail in the corner. The colors in the butterfly wings are captured and complemented by the color of the author’s name. This cover made me want to read this book.

β …This book deserves to be a breakout hit. Woodsβs magical realist take on the black female experience will have huge appeal to readers of Marlon James and Tara Conklin.β β Library Journal, Starred Review
