We need your help! Thanks to our spy, Ciara Knight, we are able to communicate with you today via blogs, Facebook, Twitter and other social media.

The Neumarian uprising has begun. We are fighting for freedom and equality for all, but we need your help. Ciara informed us that you might want to know more about the uprising and why we ask you to risk your lives for our cause. To answer these questions I’ve agreed to let Ciara tell my sister’s, Raeth’s, story about her captivity. It will be free for you on a site called Amazon until March 1, 2013.

Our spies have told us this will help spread the word and find more recruits for our rebellion against the tyrannical queen. You can help by simply downloading a free copy of Weighted, a prequel to the Neumarian Chronicles. Escapement is told by Princess Semara. Don’t hold the fact Semara is a princess against her like I did, there is more to her than you can possibly imagine.

Here is a brief explanation of her telling of our uprising:

Now I’m particularly pleased to help Ciara celebrate the Cover Reveal for Escapement — since I’m her book cover designer!  We’ve had great fun designing the covers for her Neumarian Chronicle books.   So for this post I thought I’d ask her a little about the cover and what she hoped to achieve:

Q: What mood and feel were you looking for with the covers for the Neumarian series?

Q: How does this book differ from the first one?

Ciara: Escapement is actually book I, Weighted was a prequel to the series. Escapement is written in the point of view of a princess who had been a  friend to the main character in Weighted.

Q: What is your favorite element on the cover(s)?

Ciara: I have to choose just one! Not fair. Well, I think it would have to be the metaphoric chains around Semara. It is so perfect. I also love the damaged ship off to the side.

Q: When we were designing the cover, you mentioned the clock as being an important element in the series.  What significance does it have?

A: The clock is a big part of Weighted and mentioned in Escapement. It ticks away the last moments of Raeth’s life as she awaits execution. The clock is also symbolic of how time is cyclical. The problems of the world keep repeating themselves no matter how technologically advanced a society matures.

Q: The heroine on this cover is in chains… can you give us a hint about that?

A: I’ll say it ties in with an ability that is also her curse. 😉 As mentioned above, it is also symbolic. Semara must learn to accept and embrace who she is and learn to break free of her mental and physical captivity to survive.
