Book Videos (or Book Trailers) are definitely a hot ticket item for authors… it seems everyone is creating them or paying to have them created. If you aren’t certain what a book trailer is, there are a few examples that I’ve done for clients at the end of this post.
But most people overlook what makes a book video a GOOD one. Sure, you can slap images to music and add a bunch of words, but how do you know if the days you spent making it actually do anything for you? It’s a difficult marketing measure to gain, but I can definitely tell you there are surefire ways to make it NOT worth your while and basic mistakes that many new book video editors make.
So starting February 1st, I’ll be starting a Book Video Workshop here on the blog. In this workshop, we’ll go over all the steps and basics — from writing your script, to choosing images to picking music and ultimately to putting it together in a way that captures attention. Sound interesting?
February 1st: Deconstructing a Book Video
February 9th, Tuesday: Writing Your Script
February 15th: Selecting Images
February 22: Choosing the Music
March 1st: Putting it All Together (and what program to use)
March 8th: You’ve got a video, what do you do with it now?
And the best news, folks? This workshop is entirely free…and I do mean a workshop. I’ll post the posts each morning and then throughout the day (or until the next post), leave your comments and we’ll work together to help you build a book video.
I hope you’ll attend. If you’d like to be reminded when each post of this workshop is available, be sure to sign up for our RSS feed.
