Welcome Special Guest Susan Shay

Today, I’m pleased to introduce special guest, author Susan Shay.Β  Susan published her first book in 2007 with The Wild Rose Press. Her second, a romantic suspense titled BLIND SIGHT came out this year and is getting great reviews: “BLIND SIGHT makes the adrenaline pump double time. It is a story that gets a grip and will not let go until it is finished.” ~ Long and Short Romance Reviews

Welcome, Susan! What inspired you to write romance?

It’s what I’ve liked to read and it has a guaranteed happily ever after. Also, more romances sell every year than any other kind of book. It’s what people read, so what else would I write?

What romantic genre do you write?

Paranormal, suspense and contemporary western-usually a combination. You could say I’m an all around writer. LOL

Have you always dreamed of being a writer?

Just since I was 10 years old and read Little Women. That’s when I realized how much Jo and I had in common. We were both tomboys, both like to read and make up our stories. Writing is a good fit for me.

Did any other careers get filtered into that goal?

I went to school for fashion merchandising and managed my family dress shop for several years before I started writing for real. After that my husband and I owned and operated a pharmacy. Talk about a parade of characters!

Imagine one of our readers is a writer who is inches away from giving up on her dreams.Β  What would you say to convince her (or him) to keep working at it?

Count all your successes along the way. Remember what you’ve learned, who’ve you’ve met and how much that dream means. If it’s not worth it to you, stop now. But if it is worth something to you, polish it up and keep on trucking. After all, it only takes one sale to be an author.

If you could body-swap with someone for twenty four hours, who would it be?

I’d swap with Cassie Reynolds, my heroine in BLIND SIGHT. She’s a touch psychic, and I’m Terminally Curious. Wouldn’t it be fun just to touch someone and see what he’s been up to? If he’s telling the truth? What he’s thinking?Β  What would they do for a living? Work in a bookstore. Family or none? Only family I’ve chosen as my own.Β  What would you do or hope to learn from it? I’d learn what other people really think. What they want to do.

If you inherited a time machine, where would your first stop be? Past? Future? What would you do?

I’d relive my childhood. It was a wonderful time in my life. Far past-I’d go to the old west. Future? I’d go a far enough ahead to see where my children go and do as adults. I’d like to get to know my grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

What would I do? I’d have fun! (I always want to have fun.)

If you could have a superpower, what would it be and would you use it for good or evil (or totally selfish personal gain for at least 24 hours)?

I’d fly like Superman and do only good-and have a lot of fun along the way. πŸ˜‰

If they made a Made For TV movie of your life, who would you want to play you?

Sandra Bullock.

Would this be a comedy? Most certainly. A tragedy? Only tiny parts of it.

I’m sending you on a date with the hero character from ANY romantic entertainment – book, movie, TV show.Β  Who would you want to go on the date with and what would you do (err, PG rated)?

I’d have to go horseback riding with the hero of my first book, TO SCHOOL A COWBOY. Boone Dalton is a hot guy with a boatload of honor and a precious daughter. Yum!

What was the last movie you saw and HATED?

Usually the only thing I hate about a movie is to be bored.

On the flip side, what movie have you watched more than any other?

Gone With the Wind. <g> Of course, I’m Scarlett.

Because this IS Happy Endings, I have to ask: What is your favorite fictional romantic happy endings — either from a book, a movie or TV show. Why that one?

I have to tell you, it’s the ending of my book, BLIND SIGHT, when Keegan Flynn, who doesn’t believe in anything or anyone, has to draw upon his own psychic ability to find Cassie Reynolds, the heroine, and his sister, who’ve been kidnapped by a serial killer. Experiencing with him the way he works through the disbelief of a lifetime and find his ability is great. I love it!

Thank you, Susan for being with us today!

How diplomatic of you, Susan, to mention the heroes and heroines you’d like to meet and they were from your own books. It saves wear and tear on friendships when you know so many writers. Good answers, all.

Hi, Susan. Welcome to Happy Endings. BLIND SIGHT sounds right up my alley so I’ve got it on my “watch list”. I have so many in my TBR pile that the city is threatening demolition. LOL.

FYI, Jeanne – I love the new layout!
