Welcome author Beth Trissel

by Jeannie Ruesch

I'm pleased to welcome fellow Wild Rose Press author Beth Trissel today at Happy Endings.

Jeannie: Welcome to Happy Endings. Can you tell us a little about your latest release?

Beth: Thanks so much for having me here on Happy Endings.  Love your blog title.  My latest release is THROUGH THE FIRE, the third of three releases in May.  Whew.  ‘Fire’ is a fast-paced historical romance novel with a The Last of the Mohicans flavor and a mystical weave.  I spent years researching and writing this dear to my heart book.

What inspired you to write romance?

BT: I’m a romantic at heart so there was never any question.

What romantic genre do you write?

BT: Historical and light paranormal with a strong historical element, like time travel.

What’s your favorite genre to read?

BT: The same thing. J I also like good non-fiction historical stuff and mysteries.

Have you always dreamed of being a writer? Did any other careers get filtered into that goal?

BT: I always loved writing since childhood when I kept a diary, and wrote poems and short stories as a teenager.  Then non-fiction pieces as a young wife/mother.  Making the leap into historical romance novels was quite a jump, but a natural progression for a romance/history lover.

What is your biggest challenge as a writer?

BT: Writing. I get bogged down in everything else.

On the flipside, what is the one thing that gets you most giddy as a writer?

BT: Getting a tough scene just right.  Knowing I’ve nailed it really floats my boat.

If you inherited a time machine, where would your first stop be? Past? Future? What would you do?

BT: Visit the past for sure.  I’d like to keep going back and see what happens through the ages, but then return to the present.  The future is kind of scary to me.

If someone forced you onto a reality TV show as a contestant, which one would you go on?

BT: Oooooh, this is one I’ve thought about but never wanted to do.  I’d couldn’t survive on Survivor.  Maybe I’d just go bomb on The Amazing Race. At least I’d have a buddy.

If you could become the heroine in a favorite book, which book would it be and how hunky is your hero?

BT: I put my poor heroines though hell in my own novels, but the heroes are totally hot so they’ve got that going for them.  If I were to be the heroine in someone else’s book I’d go with a lighter theme, like a romantic comedy.

If you could go (or send one of your heroines) on a date with a Superhero, who would it be and why?

BT: I’ve always been very partial to Tarzan, Robin Hood, and Batman (depending on who’s playing him.)  Tough decision.

Because this IS Happy Endings, I have to ask: What is your favorite fictional romantic happy endings — either from a book, a movie or TV show. Why that one?

BT: I love the Scarlet Pimpernel, the book(s) and the movie.  Have since I was a teenager.Percy Blakeney is ingenious, a master of disguise, noble and romantic; the perfect hero.

Thank you, Beth for being with us today.  And readers – I challenge you, ask Beth your own wacky or silly questions!
